BA HONS Photography - Manchester Metropolitan universtity.

Within this blog I have posted a range of my photography including portrait, nature, still life, landscape and fashion work. I have chosen photo's which I believe are most likely to present my abilities within digital photography. Much of my inspiration comes from photographers such as Ansel Adams, Cecil Beaton, Leo Acker, Edward Steichen, John French, Andy Goldsworthy, Frans Lanting, David La Chapelle and Rankin. The latter two being my main and biggest inspirations. Based on my previous work I am most interested in commercial/editorial, fashion, still life and natural world photography.
However I take pleasure in all genres and types of photography, indulging in both digital and film work. Both processes fascinate me from the work in the darkrooms to the editorial work with programmes such as Photoshop. I find both the practise and the theory of photography fascinating because I believe it is so simplistic but complex at the same time. It’s a very versatile media that gives a mainstream platform to the most creative and alternative work. Photography is a medium that can take any moment from the fast pace of society and bring it to a halt that can be viewed for centuries to come; I believe it is this that makes photography fascinatingly beautiful and it is this beauty that makes me want to make a career within this media. A career that makes work a pleasure rather than a chore and a career that captures my heart and inspires me in new ways everyday. I believe the Manchester Met photography course is one that will be great for my further study of this medium, giving me the free-rein and opportunities to develop my own style further and to build a career in the field I love.
